Historic House Walk

House Walk - Saturday June 1, 2013

10 am to 2 pm.  At this time, we don't have a theme.  We are inviting homeowners to self nominate their home for this year's event.  Last year, the theme was "A Walk Down Broadway", which proved to be very popular.  For 2013, we will may have fewer houses, but want to be able to feature more interior or garden tours.  This will be our 10th year for this event, so we may even want to revisit some of the homes that we have featured in the previous nine years.

The tour is a wonderful opportunity for residents to appreciate and enjoy the history of homes with historical and architectural significance within the village, as well as be inspired by fine gardens.  Homeowners who open their homes share their house’s interesting stories, explain what they have preserved, show off gardens they have developed, and enjoy friendly conversations during the tour. Sometimes they even learn more about the history of their home from tour participants.  Criteria for self-nomination include both home interiors and exteriors:

• Architectural style and age of your home
• Interior features that have been preserved or enhanced
• Notable prior owners, or interesting history
• Interesting landscaping and/or gardens
• A willingness to open your home and share its stories
